WORKSHOP:  June 25th in Busselton with Tracey Reibel from Fremantle Community Midwifery Campaign.  Will work on this at the next meeting and organize an agenda for the day.  Agenda should include fundraising – what is the best way to do this? Adee, Justyn, Marilyn, Ness are available to go to the meeting on the 25th June.  The more people the better

BIRTHSTORIES BOOK;   birthstories from the people in the community and beyond to be compiled to make a book.  This could be part of our fundraising.  Maybe we could get a grant to help us.  Everyone should start gathering their own birth stories and start asking their friends, relatives etc – Marilyn suggested to try and get birthstories from all generations.  Adee, Ruth and Ness to organize booklet out side of group.  Ruth offered to help with illustrations and artwork.

Adee mention that she would also like to incorporate handy and useful suggests as well in the birthstories booklet.

BUNBURY FORUM:  Justyn, India + Wandu went to this on Wednesday 6th June 2001.  There were a lot of active children running around but the meeting went well.  Meeting was about their intention for Birthchoices in the Country and alittle introduction of what they are all about.  Everyone their had to share their own birthing experience and it was basically saying that WA is leading the way with the Fremantle Community Midwifery Program.

FUNDRAISING:

Libby’s suggestion of a film could become a fundraising event.  India suggested that the money could be spent on getting Margaret River their own equipment for homebirths i.e. oxygen equipment, birthing pool etc.

Raffle – but must be an incorporated group if over a few days/weeks or you can be fined.

Cake stall – to soon as we haven’t got any information regarding ourselves to give to people i.e. leaflet.  Ness to bring Busselton Birthchoices leaflet next week.

LETTER: Marilyn to write to midwife in Denmark to see why their program has stopped.

SUPPORT GROUP:  discussion on having a separate support group available for parents to discuss anything they like.  Unstructured but part of the Down South Birthchoices – Margaret River branch.  Marilyn suggested contacting the Nursing Mothers association and forming a support group with them.  To be discussed next meeting if time.

SURVEY:  Pete would like us to look at the Busselton survey and see if this also relates to the Margaret River area.  Discuss at next meeting
